GEAR UP FOR YOUR ROLE:

The Risk and Safety Manager is responsible for leading the organization's insurance, safety, and risk management programs to protect people, operations, and financial performance. This role owns Workers' Compensation administration and a proactive Return-to-Work (RTW) strategy, ensuring injured teammates are safely and efficiently transitioned back into store operations while reducing claim duration, cost, and overall risk exposure.

HOW YOU WILL DRIVE SUCCESS:

Lead enterprise-wide risk and safety assessments; identify and mitigate operational risks

  • Analyze claims, incident trends, and operational data to drive targeted safety initiatives
  • Oversee Workers' Compensation program including claim intake, triage, and case management
  • Develop and execute structured Return-to-Work (RTW) program with light-duty/transitional roles
  • Actively manage injured employee cases to reduce lost time and accelerate safe return to work
  • Partner with Legal on claims investigations, documentation, and resolution strategy
  • Identify high-cost/high-frequency locations and implement corrective action plans
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve safety programs and risk controls
  • Conduct OSHA-compliant training (new hire, monthly, annual) and field safety audits
  • Manage OSHA 300/300A reporting, investigations, and root cause corrective actions
  • Train field leadership on injury reporting, prevention, and RTW execution
  • Deliver reporting and insights to leadership on risk exposure, claims, and safety performance

UNDER THE HOOD - WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, Safety, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in risk management, safety, or Workers' Compensation programs
  • Proven success managing claims, investigations, and RTW/light-duty programs
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence field operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
