Job description

What Tank is

Tank is financial AI + payments for the trillion-dollar logistics industry. We've quietly built the fastest growing network in freight payments, compounding >400% year-over-year for 3 years running. We put billions of dollars into the pockets of trucking companies - automating the data collection, approval, and reconciliation of millions of freight invoices per year. We're backed by top-tier Silicon Valley VCs, win industry awards & accolades, and serve a fiercely loyal customer base. We are post-product market fit and hiring to scale.

Who we are

We are a lean, elite team of builders and sellers working in person in Austin, TX. The founders have worked together for over a decade, including 4+ years at Amazon. We have backgrounds ranging from startups to high tech; from Wall Street to logistics industry insiders. We love hiring former founders, and future founders are even better. Check out our team here!

Who you are
  • All in on AI-using state-of-the-art tools in your daily life and work—and can’t miss the generational opportunity to bring AI into real world industry
  • 1+ years of experience in software development (internships or personal projects welcome)
  • Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, web technologies, and modern frameworks
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in an early-stage startup environment
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies and adapting quickly to changing requirements
  • Collaborative, curious, and eager to work closely with other teams like product and design
  • Bonus points (but not required): Familiarity with our specific stack, fintech, or the logistics industry
Technical challenges you'll work on

You will report directly to our co-founder and CTO. The roadmap moves fast, so within your first 90 days, you are guaranteed to work across multiple of the following dimensions:

  • Advanced AI Models: Implement AI pipelines for intelligent document processing, payment optimization, risk assessment, and business infrastructure.
  • Money Movement, at Scale: You'll build systems to securely and reliably move billions of dollars in payments, managing the complexity of financial transactions across multiple stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence: Optimize our systems to ensure high availability and fault tolerance, enabling 24/7 payments and avoiding downtime in mission-critical operations.
  • Fraud Mitigation: Build real-time fraud detection and prevention mechanisms to safeguard our payment infrastructure and mitigate financial risk.
  • Front-end and Back-end: Develop a seamless and intuitive user experience on both the client side and behind-the-scenes architecture, ensuring a responsive, scalable platform.

You will work across a broad spectrum of technologies, from backend APIs to user-facing dashboards, providing variety and constant learning opportunities.

We prefer technology agnostic, full-stack engineers, but this is our current stack: A Python microservices backend running serverless on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, CDK), a React/TypeScript/Next.js/Tailwind web app, and a Flutter mobile app. Payments run on a variety of payment infrastructure providers and banks, including Stripe; we use a variety of AI models for code generation, document processing, and business infrastructure.

Benefits
  • Compensation: Competitive salary with flexible equity packages, allowing you to benefit directly from the company’s growth.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage-100% covered by us with multiple plan options to suit your needs.
  • Learning & Development: A collaborative environment focused on mentorship, with opportunities to grow rapidly in scope and impact as the company scales.
  • In Person: We are building in-person in our HQ in downtown Austin! We believe that working together in the same space gives us a competitive edge, fostering deeper collaboration, faster problem-solving, and stronger team bonds. We love the energy of our office and believe it’s key to building a world-class company.
