Job description

We are looking for an RF Product Design Engineer who will be responsible for leading research and development of new products, leading to improvements in existing products and overall systems solutions. This role will play a critical role developing Wave Relay Product solutions with our DOD customers. The Product Design Engineer will identify customer needs through face-to-face interaction and play a critical role in developing the product solution. The Product Design Engineer will operate out of our New York City headquarters and manage projects involving a variety of functions with both on-site and remote teams. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Will facilitate firmware integration to match seamlessly with RF front-end functionality 
  • Executing projects from conception to full product release, involvinghigh-frequency, multi-bandwidth wireless and modem design products 
  • Responsible for and collaborating with firmware engineers for the overall RFFE software architecture, interface, and modularization during development 
  • Works with Layer 2 and IP networking concepts and with RF laboratoryequipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, and LabVIEW 
  • Managing RF board-level design, impedance matching, power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, filters, noise minimization, interference isolation techniques, and individual and system-level RF component performance 
  • Ensuring compliance with radio subsystems with FCC requirements 
  • Supporting software and hardware testing 
  • Supporting and facilitating engineering projects including new product/solution development, product changes, and customer integration 
  • Supporting the change management process to ensure all required actions have been completed and that communication to key stakeholders is maintained 
  • Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related or equivalent experience 
  • 5 years of experience in RF engineering 
  • Strong understanding of Linux system 
  • Strong understanding of various physical/MAC layer protocol stack and testing procedures 
  • Knowledge of RF transmitter and receiver components, transmission line theory, antennas, RF front-end module (FEM) and RF system architecture and specifications 
  • Experience with Layer 2 and IP networking concepts and RF laboratoryequipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, and LabVIEW 
  • Experience with RF performance characterization and optimization of radio subsystems to meet FCC compliance requirements 
  • Knowledge of WLAN protocols; familiarity with Layer 2 and IP networking concepts 
  • Experience with RF laboratory equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, and LabVIEW 
  • Experience using schematic capture, PCB layout tools, RF simulation tools 
  • Have United States security clearance or the ability to obtain United States security clearance 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering 
  • Experience with commercial, military, and aviation radio standards 
  • Experience with RF board-level design, impedance matching, power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, filters, noise minimization, and interference isolation techniques; strong understanding of individual RF component performance and its interaction at system level 
  • Familiarity with outsourced fabrication 
  • Exposure to Embedded Firmware Development in Assembly, C and/or C++ 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

The base pay for this role can vary from $133,000 to $166,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
