In MACOM's MMIC Business Unit, we design MMICs for cellular, aerospace and defense, and other wireless applications. We are looking for an experienced microwave power amplifier design engineer. You will:
  • Be responsible for the design, layout, test, and release of new high efficiency MMICs for microwave and millimeter wave applications based on GaN and GaAs technologies.
  • MMIC products may include power amplifiers, distributed amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, attenuators, switches or multifunction MMICs.
  • Set up and run EM simulations using process PDKs. Modify EM substrate, ports, and other EM setup conditions to backfit simulations to measurement data.
  • Be responsible for all design activities and related product development activities from kickoff through engineering evaluation.
  • Work with our package and assembly teams to come up with new and more cost-effective packaging and assembly methods.
  • Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. You will design evaluation boards and characterization fixtures, then direct or perform measurements. Evaluation data is processed and presented against the product development goals.
  • Provide clear status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing DC and RF test data.
  • Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer the product to production.

Job Requirements:

  • More than 15 years of experience in microwave or millimeter wave MMIC design.
  • Fluent with modern simulation tools such as ADS.
  • Knowledgeable in high efficiency power amplifier architectures.
  • Familiar with MMIC integration and experience designing for high yield and low cost.
  • Extensive experience with EM simulations.
  • Experience with thermal simulation tools
  • Operation and calibration of a s-parameter, and nonlinear measurements using industry standard test equipment (spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter, etc.).
  • Experience with the design of microwave evaluation boards including both electrical and thermal aspects.
  • Device modeling experience is a plus.
