Job Description

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a full‑time, 12‑month/year appointment in Small Animal Neurology/Neurosurgery. Depending on experience and qualifications, the successful candidate will be appointed to either a tenure‑track (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) or a non‑tenure‑track (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor or Professor of Practice) position.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in teaching through clinical, didactic, and laboratory instruction for professional veterinary medicine and postgraduate training programs related to neurology/neurosurgery.
  • Provide clinical service, including patient care, procedural and surgical interventions, teaching veterinary medical students and interns, resident training, and consultation with private practitioners.
  • Participate in shared after‑hours emergency surgery back‑up for neurology/neurosurgery residents.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activity; for tenure‑track candidates, establish a research focus, seek extramural funding, and mentor residents pursuing graduate degrees.
Qualifications
  • Hold a DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Must be board‑eligible or be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Neurology or the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN) at the start of employment.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States and meet eligibility requirements for faculty licensure in Alabama.
  • For tenure‑track: research experience and an advanced degree (MS or PhD) desired but not required.
  • Ability to fulfill full‑time equivalent (FTE) clinical and research responsibilities as negotiated.
