Internship Remote Rf Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Remote RF Engineer, and why are they important?

To excel as an Internship Remote RF Engineer, you need a solid understanding of radio frequency (RF) principles, basic circuit design, and a relevant engineering degree or coursework in electrical or telecommunications engineering. Familiarity with RF simulation tools like CST, HFSS, or ADS, as well as experience with measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers, is often required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help interns work well in remote teams and contribute to technical discussions. These competencies are crucial for ensuring accurate RF system design, troubleshooting, and successful collaboration in a virtual work environment.

What is a remote RF engineer internship?

A remote RF (Radio Frequency) engineer internship is a training position where interns work from a remote location to assist in designing, analyzing, and testing wireless communication systems and devices. Interns may work on tasks such as signal propagation analysis, antenna design, and troubleshooting RF circuits, all while collaborating with teams virtually. These internships provide practical experience with industry-standard software tools and exposure to telecommunication technologies, preparing students for a career in RF engineering.

What is the difference between Internship Remote Rf Engineer vs Rf Engineer?

AspectInternship Remote Rf EngineerRf Engineer
CredentialsTypically pursuing or recently completed relevant degreeBachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field, with experience
Work EnvironmentRemote, internship setting, limited responsibilitiesOn-site or hybrid, full responsibilities in RF design and testing
Employer UsageInternship programs in telecom and electronics companiesFull-time roles in telecom, wireless, and electronics industries

The main difference is that an Internship Remote Rf Engineer is a temporary, entry-level position aimed at gaining experience, often remote, while an Rf Engineer is a full-time professional responsible for RF system design, testing, and optimization in a more permanent capacity.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect as a remote RF Engineer intern?

As a remote RF Engineer intern, you will typically work on tasks such as assisting with the design, simulation, and testing of radio frequency circuits and systems. You may be involved in analyzing signal performance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting documentation for ongoing projects. Collaboration with senior engineers and cross-functional teams is common, often through virtual meetings and shared platforms. This exposure provides valuable hands-on experience and insights into the workflow of RF engineering in a professional setting.

Join a company that is passionately committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change. With more than 70 years of business and technical expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure,ย our 10,000 colleagues in 150 countries tirelessly work toward bettering the industries in which we operate. With practical solutions that are safe, innovative and sustainable, we think globally while acting locally.ย Are you looking for an opportunity to join a diverse group of professionals who are committed to remaining exceptional? We look forward to hearing from you.

Our Technologies team commercializes and delivers technologies across all three of Hatch's sectors: Metals, Energy, Infrastructure. We're a team of innovators and problem solvers who deliver custom and specialized engineering to deliver novel solutions and technologies.

About the role
Hatch's Corrosion and Materials Engineering team helps owners and operators build, protect, and extend the life of critical assets across the metals, infrastructure, and energy sectors. We work on smelters and refineries, ports and marine structures, pipelines and process plants, power generation, and the assets underpinning the energy transition.

As a Junior Materials & Corrosion Engineer, you will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to real client projects from day one. This is a structured early-career role with a clear development path toward your P.Eng., combining hands-on technical work, field exposure, and mentorship from recognized industry specialists.

What you'll do

  • Support materials selection and corrosion control studies for new designs and operating assets, applying recognized codes and standards (CSA, ASME, API, ISO, AMPP/NACE).
  • Assist with corrosion assessments, damage mechanism reviews, and root-cause failure investigations across diverse industries.
  • Contribute to asset integrity programs, including risk-based inspection (RBI), fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations, and remaining-life assessments.
  • Help specify and interpret materials testing, metallurgical examination, coatings, cathodic protection, and non-destructive examination (NDE) results.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to gather field data, observe asset condition, and support condition assessments.
  • Prepare technical calculations, reports, specifications, and client deliverables to a high professional standard.
  • Conduct literature reviews and technical research to support project work and proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineers across mechanical, structural, process, and civil disciplines on integrated solutions.

What you'll bring
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEO or another Canadian provincial regulator.
  • Solid grounding in materials science, corrosion fundamentals, and engineering principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to technical detail.
  • Willingness to travel to project and client sites, including industrial and remote locations.

Preferred

  • Coursework, co-op, internship, or research experience in corrosion, metallurgy, welding, or asset integrity.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., API 571/580, ASME, CSA, AMPP/NACE).
  • Exposure to one or more of Hatch's core sectors: metals and mining, infrastructure, or energy.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and data analysis tools.

Why Hatch

  • A defined path to professional registration, with mentorship from P.Eng. and Chartered Engineers and industry-certified specialists (API, AMPP/NACE).
  • Exposure to a global portfolio spanning multiple industries and asset types - rare breadth for an early-career engineer.
  • A collaborative, employee-owned culture that invests in technical development and rewards initiative.
  • The opportunity to work on assets and projects that matter, including metals, energy and infrastructure.

Compensation

Range: $75,000 - $84,000ย

At Hatch, we are committed to fair andย equitableย compensation practices.ย In accordance withย legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.ย
ย

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience,ย qualificationsย and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.ย

Note: Applicants mustย submitย a transcript (official or unofficial) upon application.ย
