Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for project execution of projects ranging in scope and scale. They understand the steps and process to design a system and provide clear and coherent calculations and drawings. They can provide modeling and drafting direction and understand what the final product should look like.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare structural calculations and construction documents that meet quality standards
    • Design lateral and gravity systems in areas of technical proficiency
    • Provide modeling and drafting direction
    • QC own work
    • Provide high level options for technical lead for areas that require direction
  • Develop and Execute Sprint Plan Activities
    • Create and communicate plan of approach to PM
    • Understand and document tasks to complete deliverable and estimate hours
    • Commit and execute the plan, reconcile plan with project team as needed
    • Communicate early and often when roadblocks to the plan are identified
  • Manage CA Activities and report to Technical Lead
    • Maintain and update CA Log
    • Create response to RFI’s for PM Approval
    • Review shop drawing and present to PM
    • Elevate scope creep concerns
    • Perform Site Visits
  • Communicate and manage Client Coordination
    • Communicate with client independently through client meetings, phone call and email exchanges
    • Coordinate drawing development with technical staff
    • Communicate updates to project team
  • Participate and execute Continuous Improvement Activities
    • Seek out and participate in continuing education
    • Participate in material groups; update and improve standards and best practices
    • Growing proficiency in material, market and project types

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required
  • MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management (structural engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in the structural design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood frame structures
