Power BI Developer
Location: Temple, Texas (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
As a Power BI Developer/Lead, you will architect and deliver scalable, governed, and high-performing analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric. You will lead development efforts, optimize DirectLake performance, manage Premium capacities, and mentor cross-functional teams to elevate reporting and data storytelling across the enterprise. This is a 4-month contract that requires being on-site 4-5 days per week, with a possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop robust Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards using DirectLake and Lakehouse architecture within Microsoft Fabric.
  • Implement scalable data models and semantic layers aligned with business needs and governed data practices.
  • Monitor and tune Premium capacity usage, DirectLake query performance, and refresh schedules.
  • Apply row-level security, workspace governance, and deployment pipelines to ensure compliance and reliability.
  • Guide junior developers, enforce best practices, and collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Leverage Fabric's OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, and pipeline orchestration to streamline data ingestion and transformation.
  • Translate complex requirements into intuitive visualizations and communicate insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, with at least 1-2 years in the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Technical Skills:
  • Proven expertise in DirectLake, Lakehouse, and OneLake architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Premium capacity management, including workload optimization and governance.
  • Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and Dataflows Gen2.
  • Experience with deployment pipelines, workspace governance, and row-level security.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Services, Databricks, or Synapse is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
  • Experience in enterprise data platform modernization or migration to Fabric.
  • Background in data strategy, report rationalization, or metadata-driven development.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $45.00 and $54.00 per hour. A benefits package is available to eligible employees.
