Job description

Atlas Technologies is seeking a skilled and motivated Oracle/PeopleSoft Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team and contribute to the development and maintenance of Direct Access infrastructure contract. As an Oracle PeopleSoft Database administrator, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the PeopleSoft database required to support our enterprise-wide human resources system.

Fully remote position available to residents in AL, CA, CT, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, NC, NJ, OR, RI, SC, TX, VA, DC, WV.

Travel up to 10%

You Will:

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle database software across AWS RDS environments.
  • Perform proactive performance monitoring, SQL tuning, and resource optimization, including PeopleSoft-aware diagnostics (PeopleTools metadata, PSFT schemas, App Server/PIA/Process Scheduler impacts).
  • Ensure database availability, integrity, and reliability through automated monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, RDS metrics, and custom PeopleSoft health checks.
  • Develop and implement robust backup strategies, including RMAN, PITR, cross-region backups, and restore validation.
  • Enforce database security policies, including user access, encryption, auditing, ATO compliance, CAT I/II remediation, and SQL inactivity/audit reporting.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, including slow queries, locks, PeopleSoft metadata inconsistencies, and cross-tier performance bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain documentation for processes, architecture, configurations, and operational runbooks.
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting, Python, SQL automation, Lambda workflows, and Step Functions.
  • Support database migrations and upgrades across environments (on-premises/cloud), including PeopleTools upgrades, PUM lifecycle activities, and environment refreshes (masking, scrambling, schema sync).
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing exercises, including High Availability architecture implementation for PeopleSoft (Multi-AZ, failover testing, DB redundancy, autoscaling alignment).
  • Adapt to rapid changes in requirements, tooling, and security mandates while maintaining accuracy in SQL audit reports, compliance artifacts, and operational deliverables.

You Have:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Possession of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or relevant experience.
  • Security+ CE Certification, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA with in-depth knowledge of Oracle database architecture.
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Familiarity with database automation and monitoring tools, including AWS RDS, CloudWatch, and PeopleSoft monitoring integrations.
  • Experience working with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, OCI, etc.) is a plus.

Preferred:

  • PeopleSoft-aware DBA experience, including PeopleTools metadata, PSFT schemas, PUM lifecycle, compare reports, and cross-tier troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of cloud-native automation for tuning, backups, security, and scaling.
  • Experience designing or supporting High Availability and Disaster Recovery architectures for mission-critical systems.
  • SQL audit reporting and handling evolving compliance requirements.
  • Automation and scripting skills for operational efficiency and repeatability.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
