Interns gain hands-on experience in applying medical coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT to oncology cases, helping ensure accurate billing and data management. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in medical coding with a focus on cancer care, and it often serves as a stepping stone to more advanced coding or health information management positions.

Your daily tasks may include collaborating with experienced coders, participating in team meetings, and learning how to use electronic health record (EHR) systems. You’ll also gain exposure to the unique challenges of oncology coding, such as staying current with evolving cancer treatment protocols and complex terminology.
