Public Relations Internship - Remote Intern US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1315 AFSP's PR internship program provides an enriching experience for students interested in press relations, social media and communications. Position Summary Do you have an eye for what makes a story and an interest in empowering media to report ethically on mental health? We are looking for a student with strong writing, media and organizational skills to join our small but mighty press relations team.

AFSP's PR team is housed within the national marketing and communications department, offering the opportunity to learn from colleagues with diverse skill sets. Assignments may vary, but generally include cataloging media requests, drafting weekly media coverage newsletters, flagging reputational or ethical reporting issues, conducting research related to evolving media requests, writing website articles to promote ethical reporting and other moments and writing social media copy and brainstorming content ideas promoting earned coverage. Students will also attend weekly team meetings and brainstorms and will have the opportunity to learn more about the communications field, build networking skills and discuss career planning.

There is also the opportunity to take AFSP mental health training. The program runs through the fall semester with the possibility of an extension. Students are offered a monthly stipend of $500.

The position is based in New York City and can be done remotely. Eligibility Criteria Active part-time or full-time college student (undergraduate or graduate student) and must be receiving credit through their university for the internship. Available to work a 20โ€“25 hour work week (Monday โ€“ Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm ET), asynchronous hours possible.

Qualifications Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of social media writing best practices for channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn Demonstrated interest in communications and public relations via coursework or extracurricular activity Interest or passion for working in the mental health or nonprofit field Experience with PR Newswire is a plus but not required How To Apply Please apply through our career center portal and include your resume and cover letter.
