What is a remote marine science internship?

Remote marine science internships are opportunities for students or early-career professionals to gain experience in marine science fields while working off-site, often from home or another location away from the research facility. These internships typically involve tasks like data analysis, literature reviews, GIS mapping, virtual lab work, and remote participation in research projects or conservation initiatives. They provide valuable professional development, networking opportunities, and exposure to real-world marine science work, even for those unable to participate in on-site fieldwork. Remote internships have become more common due to advances in technology and the need for flexible learning environments.
