Job description

Pay Range:

$76,500.00 - $125,700.00

Job Purpose

The Field Service Engineer provides remote and onsite technical support for pre-sales and post-sales activities related to advanced life sciences instrumentation. This role installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment while ensuring customer satisfaction through effective technical solutions.

We prefer this candidate to be commutable to Boston, New York, or San Francisco but will consider candidates located anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and related systems at customer sites.

  • Provide remote and onsite technical support for customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct testing, validation, and basic laboratory procedures to verify system performance.

  • Document service activities, maintenance records, and customer interactions.

  • Identify customer concerns and communicate feedback to internal teams.

  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of products and service procedures.

  • Manage service assignments independently and meet deadlines.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support customer success.

  • Travel extensively to customer locations for installations and repairs.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in engineering, life sciences, or related field.

  • Skills: Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, customer service, technical documentation, hardware/software support, and communication skills.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of field service engineering experience in life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices, or related industries.

  • Working Conditions: Remote field-based role with up to 85% domestic travel and occasional international travel.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform hands-on technical work.
