Job description

Mind Computing is seeking a full-time, 100% remote Healthcare Integration Engineer to support a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying enterprise healthcare integrations using HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, and healthcare integration platforms. The engineer will work in an Agile DevSecOps environment and collaborate with product teams, architects, and other stakeholders throughout the integration lifecycle.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and optimize enterprise healthcare integrations using HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, XML, JSON, and related interoperability standards.
  • Develop and maintain HL7 interfaces and FHIR APIs, including data mapping, message transformation, routing, and integration logic.
  • Collaborate with product teams, architects, and stakeholders to define interface requirements, dependencies, data mappings, and implementation strategies.
  • Translate enterprise architecture and integration patterns into scalable, secure, reliable, and production-ready solutions.
  • Establish integration standards, technical documentation, and best practices for performance, security, reliability, and observability.
  • Troubleshoot complex integration and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve data, interface, and workflow deficiencies.
  • Evaluate and implement integration tools, frameworks, and middleware while ensuring HIPAA compliance and protection of sensitive healthcare data.
  • Support CI/CD and DevSecOps processes for integration deployments and production implementations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on technical communications, training, documentation, and other project activities.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of healthcare integration experience.
  • Extensive hands on experience developing and managing HL7 interfaces and FHIR APIs within enterprise healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability, including HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, data mapping, message transformation, and routing.
  • Experience taking integration solutions from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments, including collaboration across cross-functional technical teams.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Prior government/federal experience.
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal healthcare programs.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
  • Experience with CI/CD and containerized application deployments.
  • Experience with healthcare integration platforms and middleware.
  • InterSystems IRIS Professional certification and/or HealthShare Health Connect Specialist certification.
