Job description

A MEP Designer II is responsible for development of design, construction documents and technical documentation in various project/construction phases for mechanical and plumbing systems of intermediate complexity and medium scope. This role will be primarily focused on Hydronic and Radiant Systems.
This role is considered a HYBRID position with periodic onsite work at our headquarters in Apple Valley, Minnesota, REMOTE candidates may be considered nationally depending upon experience.
What will you do?
  • Responsible for development of design, construction documents and technical documentation in various project/construction phases for MEP systems of intermediate complexity and medium scope. Ability to work independently with moderate levels of project oversight and under the guidance of a senior team member, a MEP Designer II is responsible for setting up and converting moderate MEP system design concepts into specific MEP systems by interpreting and utilizing information on client models, plan sets, specification and as outlined by senior team members. They utilize Revit/CAD and other software and BIM processes to perform and assist with project setup, pipe routing and/or modeling, technical documentation, page setup, engineering calculations, publishing construction documents and creating project material lists for residential and/or commercial projects. They are accountable for the successful implementation of the scope of work and completion of tasks which meet the quality standards of Uponor and within the allocated timeframe.
  • Provides an excellent internal and external customer experience, under the guidance of senior team members, with competent knowledge to support project specific design, calculation, material list, and product questions in a timely and professional manner. Accountable for maintaining all appropriate documentation in accordance with Uponor standards.
  • Showcases organizational and team engagement by being timely and responsive to all departmental meetings, training sessions and company updates. Embraces continuous learning and agility to increase knowledge and expand skill sets.
  • Proactively works with supervisor to develop personal development opportunities, career path and performs other duties assigned.
  • Seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives.

What will you need?
  • Requires an AA degree (or equivalent) in a field relating to: construction management, engineering, architecture, drafting, MEP systems, fire sprinkler systems. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of trade design experience and 4+ years of AutoCAD or Revit experience
  • Requires familiarity with AutoDesk software(focusing on AutoCAD, Revit, LoopCad), Microsoft Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Experienced knowledge of construction methods, building materials, pipe sizing, and model codes is required.
  • Must be detail orientated, work well under pressure, and be able to meet deadlines.
  • Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Preferred:
  • Hydronic (Mechanical) Design: CHD (Certified Hydronic Designer)
  • Plumbing (Potable) Design: CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer)
  • BCIN License
