Leidos' Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division is hiring for a Relay Settings Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing utility substation and renewable energy projects.

Hybrid or Remote: Fully remote is only available for mid level candidates with a minimum of three years of relay settings experience. Position is open to entry level/junior candidates with one plus years of relay experience or an engineering internship. Junior candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule in either Framingham, MA or Charlotte, NC.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
  • Create logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations.
  • Work directly with clients as well as other staff in remote office locations.
  • Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
  • Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation.
  • Solve challenging substation engineering problems.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Associate Level: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution and internship experience.
  • Intermediate Level: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution and three plus years of related experience.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer sites and in-office / testing lab as needed.
  • Experience creating relay settings and logic diagrams.
  • Capable of understanding Aspen OneLiner and/or Siemen's CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis.
  • Preparation of protective relay coordination studies.
  • Ability to learn development of relay settings for microprocessor relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others for both transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance and Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers and buses).
  • Familiarity with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista and Schneider Electric MiCOM software is a plus.
  • Strong engineering and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with a passion for quality.
  • Experience implementing control and protection schemes including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic to complete the schemes.

Favorable if you have:

  • Experience preparing technical reports.
  • Experience understanding power system protection
  • Ability to travel overnight on occasional basis
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast paced team environment.
  • EIT/PE License.
