Centric Software® is a global leader, providing an innovative and AI-enabled product-concept-to-commercialization platform for retailers, brands and manufacturers of all sizes. We equip retail, fashion, luxury, footwear, outdoor, home and consumer goods brands with pioneering best-of-breed solutions to plan, design, develop, source, comply, buy, make, price, allocate, sell and replenish products. Our technology powers brands to streamline processes, drive efficiency and operate with confidence in an ever-changing market.
Our story is one of rapid growth, bold ideas and extraordinary opportunities. We're here to challenge the status quo-and we're looking for brilliant people who want to do the same. No matter where you are in the world, this is your chance to be part of something exceptional.
Business Development Representative, CPGR - North America
Location: North America - 100% Remote (must be based in the US or Canada)
About the Job:
Centric Software is looking for a motivated and commercially driven Business Development Representative to support our growing CPGR business in North America.
CPGR at Centric includes Food & Beverage, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Retail, Grocery Retail, and Private Label. These are strategic growth markets where companies are under pressure to accelerate innovation, manage complex product data, improve formulation and recipe processes, streamline packaging and artwork workflows, support regulatory and compliance requirements, and reduce reliance on spreadsheets and disconnected systems.
As a Business Development Representative, you will play a key role in generating new business opportunities and building qualified pipeline for the North American CPGR Sales team. You will identify and engage target accounts, research relevant buyer personas, execute outbound outreach, qualify prospects, and support event-driven pipeline generation.
This role is ideal for someone who is curious, resilient, organized, and eager to build expertise in enterprise software sales within the consumer products and retail industries. You will work closely with Sales Executives, Marketing, Solution Consulting, and CPGR leadership to introduce target accounts to Centric's product lifecycle management and product innovation solutions.
What You'll Do:
As a BDR you will help build awareness and generate qualified sales opportunities across priority accounts in Food & Beverage, Cosmetics & Personal Care, and Retail / Private Label. Your work will directly support Centric's growth in markets where product complexity, speed to market, compliance, sustainability, and supplier collaboration are increasingly important.
You will be responsible for researching accounts, identifying key stakeholders, executing personalized outbound outreach, qualifying early-stage opportunities, and ensuring strong handoffs to Sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate Qualified Pipeline
  • Identify and engage target accounts across Food & Beverage, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Retail, Grocery Retail, and Private Label.
  • Generate qualified meetings and Sales Accepted Leads for the North American CPGR Sales team.
  • Conduct early-stage discovery to understand business needs, current processes, pain points, and potential fit with Centric.
  • Ensure meetings are qualified before handoff to Sales.
  • Focus on pipeline quality, not just activity or meeting volume.
  • Document prospect context, business pain, next steps, and qualification notes in Salesforce.

Execute Verticalized Outbound Prospecting
  • Lead outbound prospecting through email, phone, LinkedIn, and event-driven outreach.
  • Tailor messaging by industry, persona, and business challenge.
  • Create personalized outreach based on account research and relevant business triggers.
  • Build talk tracks for key personas including R&D, Product Development, Innovation, Regulatory, Quality, Packaging, Private Label, Sourcing, Sustainability, and IT.
  • Test and refine messaging based on response rates, meeting conversion, and Sales feedback.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects and target accounts.

Research and Prioritize Target Accounts
  • Research and map target accounts across North America.
  • Identify key contacts and buying groups within priority accounts.
  • Capture relevant account intelligence, including company size, product categories, private label relevance, product complexity, regulatory exposure, innovation intensity, recent business triggers, and likely system landscape.
  • Build context around current tools, manual workflows, spreadsheet reliance, and potential Centric fit where available.
  • Collaborate with Sales Executives to prioritize accounts and refine outreach strategy.

Support CPGR Industry Event Pipeline Generation
  • Support pipeline generation around priority industry events.
  • Build pre-event target account and contact lists.
  • Conduct pre-event outreach to book meetings.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing on event follow-up.
  • Capture buyer feedback, market insights, and competitor observations.
  • Ensure post-event follow-up is timely, structured, and documented.

Build CPGR Industry Fluency
Develop a strong working understanding of the CPGR industries Centric serves, including:
  • Food & Beverage product development, recipes, formulations, ingredients, nutrition, allergens, supplier collaboration, claims, labeling, packaging, artwork, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Cosmetics & Personal Care formula management, ingredients, claims, packaging, artwork, sustainability, transparency, and multi-market regulatory requirements.
  • Retail, Grocery Retail, and Private Label product development, sourcing, supplier collaboration, packaging, quality, compliance, category execution, and time-to-shelf pressures.

You should be able to connect Centric's value proposition to the specific challenges faced by different buyer personas and verticals.
Maintain CRM Discipline and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and complete activity, account, contact, and lead records in Salesforce.
  • Log outbound activity, prospect responses, meeting outcomes, and follow-up actions.
  • Capture lead sources and campaign attribution accurately.
  • Provide clear handoff notes for Sales Executives.
  • Track progress against activity, meeting, SAL, and pipeline goals.
  • Share market feedback, buyer objections, competitor insights, and messaging learnings with Sales, Marketing, and CPGR leadership.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a motivated BDR who enjoys outbound prospecting, account research, and learning complex industries. They are comfortable reaching out to new prospects, tailoring messages by persona and business challenge, and working closely with Sales to generate qualified pipeline.
They bring energy, curiosity, discipline, and resilience. They understand that success in this role requires more than activity volume - it requires relevant outreach, strong qualification, clean handoffs, and a commitment to building meaningful opportunities in strategic CPGR markets.
Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience in business development, sales development, account development, inside sales, or a related prospecting-focused role.
  • Experience with outbound prospecting through email, phone, LinkedIn, or similar channels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to qualify prospects and communicate business context clearly.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and cross-functional teams.
  • College or university degree, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft 365 or similar productivity tools.
  • Experience with CRM and sales engagement tools.

What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Remote work with a collaborative North American team.
  • Opportunity to join a global software company and contribute to a strategic growth market.
  • Exposure to enterprise sales cycles and senior buyers across Food & Beverage, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Retail, Grocery Retail, and Private Label.
  • A multifaceted role with responsibility across prospecting, research, qualification, events, and pipeline generation.
  • The opportunity to help build Centric's CPGR business development motion in North America.
