Job description

Job Title: Staff Engineer
Location: Parsippany, NJ
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $55,000-$80,000 + overtime
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 40.0
Overview
Coordinates the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This staff position is considered a training position for those with degrees in a related field but with limited to no field experience.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of geotechnical engineering projects within the assigned responsibility area.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and conformance to specifications and procedures.
  • Design portions of projects as needed and lead inspection testing for concrete and rebar.
  • Perform research, write reports, and prepare samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates on milestones and adjusting plans accordingly.
  • Oversee installation of monitoring wells in compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Travel 25% to 100% (out of state possible) for site visits and project oversight.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 0 to 3 years of Site Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental engineering experience.
  • Previous internship or construction experience preferred.
  • Ability to review and understand plans, specifications, and reports including site, grading, utility, foundation, and structural details.
  • Experience with inspection of compacted fills, footings, ground improvement, deep foundations, retaining walls, utilities, asphalt, and sitework elements.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required; Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred or ability to register within six months.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, MS Word, Excel, Adobe.
  • Ability to use tools such as lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge.
