Job description

As Real Estate Appraiser Associate in the Valuation Services Group, you support multifamily and commercial appraisal assignments under the guidance of a certified general real estate appraiser. You will build local market knowledge, perform property-level due diligence and inspections, and contribute to appraisal report development while working toward increased ownership over time. You will be supported with equipment, training, data sources, and software as you grow your technical skills and deliver work aligned to quality standards and regulatory expectations.

Job responsibilities 

  • Collect and analyze appraisal-related market data using internal and external sources and approved tools
  • Monitor local and regional commercial real estate markets and summarize relevant trends and developments
  • Perform property-level due diligence and support property inspections as part of the valuation process
  • Assist in preparing appraisal reports, increasing your contribution to completion over time
  • Partner with a certified general appraiser to support timely completion of appraisal assignments
  • Support market value conclusions for collateral supporting real estate lending decisions in alignment with internal policies and procedures
  • Apply industry standards and applicable regulatory requirements in your analyses and documentation
  • Interview market participants to support rent surveys, sales verification, and subject property analysis
  • Maintain organized workpapers, notes, and supporting documentation to meet quality expectations
  • Communicate status, findings, and questions clearly to team members to align on priorities and timelines
  • Support additional related tasks as needed based on business priorities

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year college degree)
  • General Appraiser License, Residential Appraiser License, Appraiser Trainee License, or active progress toward state General Real Estate Appraiser licensure
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and within a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to self-motivate, manage time effectively, and meet service level deadlines
  • Interest in learning local real estate markets, submarkets, and neighborhood dynamics
  • Ability to travel independently for property inspections and market research

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Exposure to multifamily and/or commercial real estate transactions, appraisal support, research, or analytics
  • Interest in developing knowledge of building construction types and property condition considerations
  • Familiarity with property risk factors such as flood and environmental considerations and relevant hazard standards
  • Interest in learning zoning concepts and how they can impact valuation analysis
