Student Vocational Coach - Phoenix Main Campus

AZACS was awarded the2023/2024 National ESEA Distinguished Schools Awardfor Arizona and the2022 YASS Prizefor innovation in education and providing a transformational experience by expanding unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools.


The Student Vocational Coach will provide one-on-one, individualized support to AZACS students participating in student internship roles on campus. The coordinator must be a self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills who is comfortable working directly with students, teachers, and school leaders to integrate student experiences and support within the campus community.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and formalize student vocational duties within the internship program to support the assigned campus
  • Engage in one-on-one contact with students on campus to support daily and weekly vocational duties
  • Provide one-on-one individualized support to the students to assist them in the development of vocational/employment skills (resume writing, job interviews, application completion, etc.).
  • Work closely with Campus Directors and staff to help them understand the value of the support the AZACS student internships provide.
  • Collect data regarding student performance.
  • Assisting students in discovering and overcoming their personal barriers and setting goals
  • Developing effective job coaching and employment plans
  • Communicating with students to understand their goals and ambitions
  • Train students on interpersonal skills
  • Serve to support behaviors on a day-to-day basis in the community as well as on campus
  • Regular and predictable attendance is considered an essential requirement of your position.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience working with students withmoderate to severedisabilities
  • Completion of or currently enrolled in a program for Education, OR Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or currently enrolled in a programpreferred
  • Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
  • Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers, and professional contacts courteously and professionally, and follow AZACS guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card


Required:

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
