Electronic Technician Apprentice

Position Summary

The Electronic Technician Apprentice supports the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electronic systems and equipment under the guidance of senior technicians. This role is designed to provide hands-on technical training while developing foundational skills in electronics, safety compliance, and equipment reliability.

The apprentice will learn to diagnose electrical issues, interpret schematics, use testing equipment, and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with company standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic systems, control panels, and electrical components.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Assist in installing and commissioning new equipment or system upgrades.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and maintenance findings.
  • Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Participate in technical training programs and certification coursework.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a technical/trade school program in electronics, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and electronic components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Preferred Qualifications (Aerospace/Industrial Environment)

  • Exposure to PLC systems or industrial controls.
  • Familiarity with schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Internship or prior hands-on technical experience.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • Work in industrial or production environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment.  The employee may also occasionally be exposed to moderate cold and moderate heat.  Exposure to the production facility includes loud noise, fumes, and moving equipment.
