What We're Looking For:

As an Advanced Sustaining Engineer, you will primarily drive the technical program management of our active product lines, with a major focus on managing engineering change orders (ECOs) and end-of-life (EOL) component resolutions. This role is crucial for maintaining supply chain integrity and ensuring the seamless evolution of our products post-release. You will lead cross-functional projects to qualify alternative components, manage strategic inventory planning, and orchestrate the validation and rollout of all design updates. While this position is anchored in managing the product lifecycle, it also involves analyzing field failure data to inform corrective actions and feeding lessons learned back into new product designs.
Location- ***Role is required to be onsite in Mississauga, Canada office location (Hybrid- Minimum of 3 days in the office per week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Change Management & Validation: Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to develop comprehensive test plans, draft verification protocols, and execute validation testing, ensuring all engineering changes are robust, fully verified, and free of regressions.
  • Initiates, documents, and ensures all Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) are properly approved and tracked, confirming that all design updates are successfully integrated into production.
  • Manages the strategic rollout of software and firmware changes into production environments, coordinating directly with product managers, sales engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment and minimal operational disruption.
  • Follows through on all quality assurance and documentation activities for every phase of a project.
  • Supply Chain & Manufacturing Support:Manages the lifecycle integrity of active products by leading engineering projects dedicated to EOL component resolution, alternative vendor qualification, and strategic inventory planning.
  • Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provides technical leadership to programs, leveraging functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management.
  • Acts as the primary technical bridge to design engineering teams, feeding production and field-failure learnings back into the New Product Introduction (NPI) pipeline to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other disciplines, including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and R&D.
  • Represents the organization as the principal customer contact and performs project leadership, coordinating the activities of other personnel as needed.
  • Post-Release Product Engineering & Issue Resolution: Leads the analysis and correction of post-release product issues by collecting, triaging, and monitoring field-use data and customer complaints to identify failure trends and safety hazards.
  • Conducts rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on complex in-service failures to drive long-term Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), developing and applying technical improvements based on findings.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Experience in engineering/technical program management for fast paced environments

Pay Range:

$101,040.00 - $151,040.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation:

In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 12% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
