Job description

The EmergeATS National Security Team is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Level 3) to support a mission-critical program on-site at Fort Meade, MD. Position Overview The Network Engineer will provide senior-level network engineering support for classified mission systems at Fort Meade, MD. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, optimizing, and sustaining enterprise network infrastructures supporting complex operational requirements. The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead for network architecture, systems integration, performance optimization, and security compliance activities. This position requires extensive experience supporting Local Area Networks (LAN), Campus Area Networks (CAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), voice, video, and telecommunications environments within Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) organizations. At Level 3, this position requires a senior practitioner with 10+ years of network engineering experience who can lead complex projects, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance to stakeholders and mission partners. All work is performed on-site within a classified facility at Fort Meade. Key Responsibilities: Network Architecture and Engineering Design, implement, maintain, and upgrade enterprise network infrastructures.
Develop network architectures supporting evolving mission and operational requirements.
Translate business and technical requirements into scalable network solutions across LAN, CAN, WAN, voice, and video environments.
Lead large-scale network installation, modernization, and integration efforts.
Design and implement advanced networking solutions including VPNs, load balancing, firewall technologies, VoIP, GRE tunneling, IPSec, IP encryption, NAT, and traffic management.
Network Operations and Performance Administer enterprise network environments and oversee complex cutovers, migrations, and upgrades.
Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, throughput, and latency.
Utilize network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and simulation tools to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
Conduct performance analysis and develop recommendations for infrastructure improvements.
Serve as the escalation point for complex network incidents and operational challenges.
Systems Integration and Security Integrate network hardware, software, and telecommunications technologies into classified environments.
Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, accreditation artifacts, and technical baselines.
Implement network security architectures in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides (DISA STIGs), Risk Management Framework (RMF), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 requirements.
Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, security reviews, and compliance assessments.
Ensure adherence to applicable DoD and IC cybersecurity policies and standards.
Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
Lead engineering reviews, troubleshooting efforts, and network modernization initiatives.
Coordinate with stakeholders, mission partners, and program leadership to support operational requirements.
Support development of networking and telecommunications models, algorithms, and engineering solutions.
Qualifications/Education One of the following: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline and 12+ years of relevant experience; OR
16+ years of relevant Network Engineering experience plus an Arista, Cisco, or Juniper networking certification.
Required Qualifications Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
Counterintelligence Investigation completed within the last five years.
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level III certification (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, or equivalent).
Experience designing, implementing, and administering enterprise LAN, CAN, and WAN infrastructures.
Experience leading network integration and modernization projects within classified environments.
Experience with advanced networking technologies including VPNs, VoIP, GRE, IPSec, encryption technologies, and firewall platforms.
Experience using network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulation tools.
Experience supporting RMF, NIST 800-53, and security accreditation activities.
Desired Skills Arista, Cisco, or Juniper certifications.
Network automation using Python or Ansible.
Cross Domain Solution (CDS) architecture and lifecycle management experience.
Telecommunications and circuit-switched network design experience.
Experience mentoring network engineering teams in enterprise environments.
