Job Title Public Relations Intern Classification Grade 1 SS A | $20 per hour Department Home Office | Marketing & Communications FLSA Status Part-Time | 20 hours per week Supervisor (title) Sr. Manager, Strategic Communications & PR Location Atlanta, GA POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job) The Public Relations Intern supports national and local media relations campaigns, storytelling and brand visibility efforts to raise awareness of the Arthritis Foundation's mission and impact. The internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, public relations and media relations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)
  • Write press materials (press releases, media pitches, media alerts) and news articles for website
  • Assist with media outreach
  • Track media coverage using free online tools and compile campaign results reports
  • Conduct research needed to implement communications strategies
  • Assist with media interview coordination for volunteer and staff spokespeople
  • Assist with media outreach in key Arthritis Foundation markets
  • Participate in communications planning meetings
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION The internship is open to current students enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing a degree or post-graduate degree in one of the following disciplines: Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Social Media, or Media Relations. Additional Qualifications
