Assistant Packaging Engineer

The Assistant Packaging Engineer will support the design, development, and production of packaging across footwear, apparel, and accessories. This role blends foundational packaging engineering knowledge with hands-on project coordination, contributing to packaging solutions that align with design intent while meeting production and quality standards.

Under the direction of the Trims and Label Director, you will partner closely with Design and Merchandising teams to help translate concepts into production-ready packaging, gaining experience in dielines, material selection, print production, and packaging execution across the product lifecycle.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the development of packaging solutions that balance design intent, functionality, cost, and manufacturability
  • Assist in creating and reviewing dielines and packaging specifications, ensuring accuracy and readiness for production
  • Partner with Design and Merchandising teams to help bring packaging concepts to life in a production-ready format
  • Support print production execution, including artwork setup, color consistency, and material/finish alignment
  • Help manage packaging development timelines and milestones, tracking progress across projects
  • Assist with purchase order (PO) tracking and production coordination, ensuring packaging stays on schedule
  • Communicate with vendors and internal partners to support issue resolution and day-to-day execution
  • Participate in packaging testing and validation, including durability and performance checks
  • Support tooling and production readiness to ensure successful bulk manufacturing
  • Maintain packaging specifications, samples, and approvals within PLM systems
  • Contribute to maintaining material standards and documentation
  • Assist with sustainability tracking and reporting efforts

What will you need to bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of experience or relevant internships in packaging, print production, or CPG environments preferred
  • Basic understanding of dielines, packaging structures, and materials
  • Exposure to print production processes and color fundamentals is a plus
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High attention to detail and willingness to learn technical processes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners (Design, Merch, Vendors)
