Description

The Director of Player Personnel will report to the SVP, Operations - Flag Football and lead the development and execution of the league's player identification, evaluation, recruitment and player support strategy. This individual will play a critical role in building the league's talent ecosystem from the ground up - establishing the processes and relationships necessary to identify, evaluate, recruit, develop and support elite flag football athletes globally.
 

This role requires deep credibility within the elite flag football community, strong operational leadership, and the ability to build scalable systems in a startup environment. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience working directly with high-level flag football athletes through coaching, scouting, player development, or talent evaluation, along with a strong understanding of the broader football and athlete development landscape.

Responsibilities:


Player Identification & Talent Pipeline Development

  • Design and lead the league's player personnel strategy across scouting, evaluation, recruitment and talent development
    • Build and manage a nationwide and/or international network of scouts, evaluators, coaches and talent identifiers
    • Develop scalable systems and standards for player evaluation, grading, ranking and reporting
  • Establish and oversee player evaluation events and pathways, including combines, showcases and training camps
    • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of elite flag football talent across key domestic and international markets
    • Develop relationships with flag football organizations, coaches, trainers, tournament operators and athlete communities
  • Maintain awareness of emerging players, trends and competitive dynamics across the global flag football ecosystem
  • Partner with league leadership on player acquisition strategy, roster construction philosophy, and long-term talent planning 

Football Operations & Evaluation Execution

  • Lead operational planning and execution for player evaluation events and football testing environments
  • Develop standardized evaluation criteria across positional skill sets, athletic traits, football IQ, leadership and competitiveness
  • Oversee player database management, scouting reports, rankings and evaluation workflows
  • Collaborate with Football Operations and Competition teams to align talent strategy with league structure and competitive goals
  • Support development of league policies and standards related to player eligibility, participation, and conduct 

Player Programs & Athlete Experience

  • Oversee development of player-facing programs, resources and support systems once athletes are contracted with the league
  • Partner cross-functionally to build programs related to player onboarding, athlete development, wellness support and professional resources
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and advocate for player-related initiatives internally
  • Help establish and maintain a strong player culture aligned with league values and standards 
  • Support communication and relationship management with players, agents, and key athlete representatives

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in player personnel, scouting, coaching, athlete development, or football operations
  • Direct experience working with elite flag football athletes 
  • Strong existing relationships within the flag football ecosystem, including athletes, coaches, trainers and tournament operators
  • Experience designing and executing player evaluation systems and talent identification programs
  • Demonstrated ability to assess football talent and project athlete development
  • Strong operational and organizational skills, with the ability to build systems and processes from the ground up
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience leading scouts, evaluators, or football operations personnel
  • Experience with emerging leagues, Olympic sports pathways, or international competition environment
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred


Preferred:

  • Prior experience building or leading player personnel functions for emerging leagues, Olympic pathways, or non-traditional professional sports
  • Experience working with the International Federation of American Football, USA Football, national team programs, or elite flag football pipelines
  • Background in elite athlete development environments (youth ? senior national / professional pathways)
  • International scouting, evaluation, or event experience
  • Experience designing or managing player databases, scouting platforms, or evaluation technology
  • Strong understanding of Olympic sport models, qualification pathways, and international competition structures
  • Former high-level flag football athlete, coach, or evaluator strongly preferred
