Job description

Under the supervision of the Project Managers, you will be expected to provide advice and guidance to contractors, building owners, engineers, and architects to ensure that the most up to date fire prevention concepts and practices are incorporated into the design and construction of facilities. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers and project managers with the design and calculations of fire protection systems; including fire alarm, fire suppression, clean agent extinguishing, and smoke control.
    • Perform site surveys of existing facilities and fire protection systems.
      • Provide building and fire code and life safety analysis.
        • Prepare letters and reports for submission to clients and authorities having jurisdiction.
        • Witness or perform acceptance testing for fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA standards.

        Required Qualifications:

        • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or other construction related field. Bachelor's or Master's in Fire Protection Engineering, preferred.
        • OR work experience, including internships, in engineering or construction related field.
        • OR passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Experience with Fire Modeling (FDS) and timed egress analysis.
        • Knowledge of ICC and NFPA code & standards and the ability to interpret them.
        • Ability to gain knowledge of fire protection engineering and design principles.
        • Successfully work within a collaborative team environment.
        • Excellent communicator, including graphic and print media, and verbal presentation skills.
