POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fall Semester Graphic Design Internship at the Ozarks Regional YMCA offers a structured, educational experience for students pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field. Under the mentorship of the Marketing Director, the intern will be introduced to professional design practices aligned with the YMCA's brand standards and values. This internship is intended to support students in developing industry-relevant skills in a nonprofit environment, where they will gain insight into visual storytelling that supports community engagement and mission-driven marketing.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the conclusion of this internship, the student will:
• Understand foundational nonprofit marketing practices.
• Demonstrate proficiency in creating digital and print materials.
• Collaborate effectively with Marketing Director and cross-functional teams.
• Build a portfolio of design assets aligned with real-world branding standards.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:
• Observing and being mentored in the development of flyers, social media graphics, and branded materials.
• Participating in collaborative brainstorming sessions to understand project goals and community impact.
• Receiving guidance on updating existing templates and maintaining digital asset organization.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current full-time student pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communication or related field.
2. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
3. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
4. Strong sense of visual storytelling, layout and typography.
5. Ability to design for a wide range of audiences using inclusive and equity-centered approaches.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
