Job description

Job Description Step into a hands-on role where you'll work at the heart of production, operating and monitoring machinery that keeps output running smoothly. This contract position is ideal for someone looking to build a manufacturing career, gain solid experience, and learn best practices in a fast-paced environment. Shift: 2PM - 10PM About the Role: You will be responsible for operating and monitoring production machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent output.

Working closely with the production team, you'll help maintain equipment performance through basic preventive maintenance and timely reporting of issues. Your attention to detail and reliability will directly support production targets and product quality. Key Responsibilities: Operate assigned machines according to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

Monitor machine performance, identifying irregular sounds, jams, or product defects and taking prompt corrective action. Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and basic adjustments. Set up machines with required materials and components, ensuring correct configurations for each production run.

Conduct visual inspections of finished products to verify quality standards are met. Accurately record production data, downtime, and any machine issues in logs or reporting systems. Communicate equipment problems to supervisors or maintenance teams to minimise disruption to production.

Key Requirements: Experience in machine operation or similar hands-on production work, including internships or vocational experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and report issues quickly. Willingness to work on your feet for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks. Reliable, punctual, and able to work assigned shifts, including potential overtime as needed.

Desirable Skills: Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment. Familiarity with basic preventive maintenance practices on production equipment. Exposure to quality inspection processes or basic measuring tools.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field is an advantage.
