Job description

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has a great opportunity for an Informatics Pharmacist to join our dynamic team of engaged professionals.

This position will be responsible for the Information Technology components which have a connection to the ordering, dispensing, or administration of medications as it relates to automated dispensing and the electronic health record. This includes development, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support. Assists in the broader process of clinical systems implementation, problem identification and resolution to ensure Pharmacy systems are functioning and coordinated with the core systems in use.

  • Participatein the maintenance and support of automated dispensing systems (ADS), including oversight of pharmacy technicians who have direct responsibility for supporting automation systems in the department.
  • Build new entries into the Epic system, investigate issues related to ADS and Epic, and regularly communicate with pharmacy staff and Epic team members about these systems.
  • Optimize pharmacy automation systems, and medication databases,as well as to refine processes in Epic as it relates to medication safety and optimizing workflows.
  • Oversight and maintenance of financial issues of pharmacy charging, working closely with the compliance team, reviewing medication charges, and to audit data when required.
  • Member of the pharmacy leadership team, helping to lead a team of about 30 professional pharmacists and 30 technical staff in a state-of-the-art pharmacy.
  • Collaborates with Epic and I.T. analysts to investigate & problem-solve issues and recommend solutions related to medication-use processes.
  • Identifies and engages in pharmacy quality improvement activities to enhance safety related to electronic systems as well as to optimize pharmacy workflows.
  • Good knowledge of using spreadsheets, analyzing data in reports, and the ability to organize data in a meaningful way to communicate with analysts and team members.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be involved.

ONSITE ROLE

Qualifications

  • B.S. in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Advanced degree and/or ASHP accredited residency preferred.
  • Must be a registered pharmacist in the state of Washington.
  • Three years of hospital pharmacy experience required, five years preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of financial reports
  • Effective interpersonal skills critical
