Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.
Candidates with military experience in aviation maintenance, propulsion, operational analysis, fleet readiness, and/or engineering support are a strong fit for this role.Job Description

The Mission Analysis team is responsible for establishment and analysis of operating conditions for all GE Aerospace products.The Mission Analysis engineer will provide files for use in performance, thermal analysis, and stress analysis models.You will work with External to GE Customers, Internal to GE Customers, Systems, Performance, and Controls to ensure operating conditions reflect engine operational intent for New Product Introduction (NPI) Programs and/or field operation for Fielded Programs.You will assess engine statistics and data by looking for outliers and trends. You will provide external customers with written documentation of field usage trends, make recommendations to Life Management (LM) on need for updating Life Limited Parts (LLP) life limit basis, and provide agency information for existing fleet. You will advance 'state of the art' in processing engine field data to identify trends, creating representative mission profiles for detailed component analysis, and incorporation of automation to improve efficiency, standardization, and communications.

The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgement. Professional practices, policies, and team collaboration will also provide role guidance and structure.

Role requires minimum hybrid work environment with in office work required Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Office location will be located with the Mission Analysis team in Evendale, Ohio. Depending on work and program, possible work from home option on Mondays and/or Fridays.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with other areas; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • This role requires sound interpersonal skills to develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GE.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering environment, preferably working with jet aircrafts, aeroderivatives, or jet engines.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to be able to acquire a US Government Security Clearance if requested; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
