Reports to: Director of Alumni Engagement

Compensation: $21.00/hour

Internship Timeframe & Schedule: September 14-December 18, 2026 (excluding the weeks of October 12-16 and November 23-27); expected to work 10 hours per week

Location: All positions are in person


Position Overview

The Breck Alumni Office is seeking a project-based intern to support the Director of Alumni Engagement as well as the Events Manager in executing five core projects and managing a slate of fall and early winter events.

Key projects to expect during this internship include:

  • Reunion & Event Programming
    • Partner with the Director of Alumni Engagement and the Events Manager for sign-up forms and communications plans for fall/winter events
    • Provide on-site support for Homecoming, 2–3 class reunions, Alumni Basketball and Hockey games, and the Annual Holiday Party
    • Track event attendees in Breck’s database
  • Breck History Archiving
    • Curate and launch decade-specific physical time capsules for display cases
    • Identify interesting historical information and leverage it into engaging social posts and website content to drive alumni growth and celebrate Breck's 140th year
    • Focus on documenting major historical events and institutional milestones from 2000 to 2026
  • Website & Social Engagement
    • Collaborate with an alumni focus group to evaluate user experience on the alumni portal/webpages and propose formal improvements
    • Drive Instagram growth through high-quality posts and active engagement (following) the accounts of Breck alumni
    • Create a strategic proposal evaluating how to best leverage LinkedIn
  • Alumni Engagement Outreach
    • Track and organize overall alumni interactions on the new alumni engagement sheet
    • Research and identify a candidates to serve as Alumni Council members
    • Assist in soliciting, collecting, and editing submissions for the Class Notes section of Today at Breck magazine
  • Friends of Breck Outreach - Parents of Alumni & Former Faculty/Staff
    • Collaborate with the Advancement team and current/past faculty and staff members to identify key Breck Parents of Alumni and Former Faculty/Staff from the last 30 years
    • Plan, organize, and execute a dedicated appreciation event for former faculty and staff members hosted by the alumni office
    • Create an e-newsletter template and launch the first Parent of Alumni e-newsletter

Responsibilities

This list of tasks and responsibilities describes the core duties of the Alumni Office Intern role. However, it may not be fully comprehensive due to the evolving nature of projects and is subject to change. The intern will:

  • Contact Breck alumni via phone and email
  • Create and manage event plans, communication plans, registration forms, and related marketing materials
  • Develop and manage social media posts and stories to grow alumni channels and spread the word about events
  • Build processes and programs that serve the Breck alumni community
  • Recruit participants for upcoming alumni events
  • Attend all assigned events (unless excused by the Director of Alumni Engagement)
  • Assist with event implementation, including setup/teardown, volunteer coordination, and welcoming attendees
  • Research best practices at other schools to support process improvement and brainstorming

Qualifications

  • Have completed at least one year of college, or are at least one year removed from their high school graduation
  • Must agree to the Breck employee code of conduct
  • Have the ability to be a self-motivator and remain flexible as projects and events evolve
  • Willing to connect with Breck alumni of all ages and backgrounds
  • Available and willing to work on pre-determined event dates
