Job description

POSITION TITLE: IV Technician
ROLE
This role is responsible for administering intravenous vitamins and fluid therapy. The IV
Technician administers vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients directly to clients to support
health and wellness under approved protocols and appropriate clinical supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Administer peripheral IVs and run fluid therapy for IV treatments
● Monitor the client’s response to treatment throughout the infusion
● Manage and help prevent infections using proper sterile technique
● Assess the client’s physical health, including vital signs, general physical assessment,
and mental status
● Identify contraindications to IV therapy and escalate concerns to supervising
RN/NP/Physician as appropriate
● Obtain and document client vital signs as required
● Document all client interactions, assessments, therapies provided, and
responses/reactions in the EMR
● Perform all duties in accordance with clinic policies, protocols, and scope of practice
● All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION
Credentialed as one of the following:
● Registered Nurse (RN)
● Paramedic
● Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- LPNs function under RN, NP, or physician
supervision in accordance with Indiana scope of practice and clinic protocols.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
● Minimum 2 years of vascular access or infusion experience required
● Strong venous access skills, including ability to access peripheral veins
● Excellent IV catheter placement skills
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), anatomy, medical
terminology, and clinical workflows
● Strong attention to detail
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
● Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
● Ability to multitask, manage stress, and work independently
● Demonstrated problem-solving, time management, and sound judgment
● Dependable, reliable, flexible, and team-oriented
● Commitment to ongoing learning and performance improvement
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly
● Ability to hear average conversations
● Regular use of hands for typing and computer/mouse operation
● Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus (with or without corrective lenses)
● Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds
assisted
● Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and walk for extended periods
WORKING CONDITIONS
● Eight (8) to ten (10) hour shifts
● Weekdays with occasional weekends required
● Full-time or Part-time or Per-diem
