Internship Outdoor Design information

What is an internship in outdoor design?

An Internship in Outdoor Design is a temporary position, often for students or recent graduates, that provides hands-on experience in designing outdoor spaces such as gardens, parks, recreational areas, and public landscapes. Interns typically assist professional designers or landscape architects with project planning, site analysis, drafting, and sometimes even client meetings or fieldwork. The goal of such an internship is to help interns build practical skills, expand their portfolio, and gain a better understanding of the outdoor design industry. These internships can be found at landscape architecture firms, urban planning agencies, or companies specializing in sustainable outdoor environments.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during an internship in outdoor design?

As an intern in Outdoor Design, you will typically contribute to projects like landscape planning, park or public space layouts, and site analysis. Your daily tasks may include assisting with design drafts, researching materials, supporting environmental assessments, and collaborating with senior designers and clients. This hands-on experience allows you to develop a practical understanding of spatial design, sustainability considerations, and the collaborative process within multidisciplinary teams. It's a great opportunity to build your portfolio and gain insights into real-world design challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an outdoor design intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Outdoor Design Intern, you need a foundational understanding of landscape architecture or design principles, typically supported by coursework in a related field. Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is often required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help interns collaborate effectively and present their ideas clearly. These competencies are crucial for producing innovative, functional outdoor spaces and succeeding in a collaborative, fast-paced design environment.

Job description

Veterinary Ophthalmologist
Full time opportunity in Queen Creek, Arizona
Why Join ARISE Veterinary Center
At ARISE Veterinary Center, you'll do more than practice. You'll have the opportunity to build and shape a new ophthalmology service within a growing 32,000 square foot specialty and emergency hospital. You'll join a highly collaborative team that values advanced medicine, complex case management, teaching, and strong relationships with referring veterinarians.
ARISE boasts a highly experienced team with a strong foundation in emergency and critical care, including board certified Criticalists and VTS in Emergency & Critical Care who provide comprehensive ICU oversight and strong anesthesia support. The hospital's specialty services include cardiology, radiology, internal medicine, surgery, critical care, medical oncology, and neurology (coming soon!). These teams work closely together to support integrated case management and provide comprehensive care for complex patients.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ophthalmologist who wants to establish and grow a service with the support of an established specialty and emergency hospital. You'll have the opportunity to develop the ophthalmology caseload, establish referral relationships, collaborate with the existing specialty services, and help define the resources and equipment needed to support the service as it grows.
The hospital also works closely with local general practitioners who provide a strong referral caseload and a cohesive community focused on excellent long term care for patients. Interns and emergency and critical care residents regularly engage in rotations within our services, and ARISE is expanding its training opportunities as our specialty services and caseload continue to grow.
The sprawling 32,000 square foot facility boasts advanced diagnostic, imaging, and surgical capabilities, including:
• GE Mobile 1.5T MRI
• 128 slice CT with cardiac gating capabilities
• Multiple ultrasound units, including Toshiba Aplio i700, Vivid iQ, GE Versana, and Mindray systems
• Digital radiography
As a growing specialty service, ophthalmology will have strong support from the hospital administrative team as the service develops and equipment needs are identified. You'll also find suites dedicated to mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal therapies, a 2,000 square foot conference center, administrative offices, 34 exam rooms, and a designated area for visiting clients.
ARISE Veterinary Center was named one of the winners in dvm360's 2025 HospitalDesign360 Competition. The hospital won in the Expansive Category for facilities over 8,000 square feet and was recognized for smart, innovative, compassionate, patient centered design. This recognition reflects the standards ARISE and Ethos are setting across veterinary medicine.
As part of Ethos, your voice, growth, and expertise truly matter. Every member of the Ethos team has access to our dedicated community support team, which helps employees navigate work life balance and promotes overall well being through virtual well being programs and in person retreats.
