Analyst I 

Quality Assurance Center | Data & Insights - On site role

Purpose & Impact

The Analyst I is an early-career, data-driven problem solver who helps power smarter, faster decisions across Steak ’n Shake. This role sits at the intersection of data, technology, and operations—supporting the transformation of financial and operational data into insights that improve performance, consistency, and quality at scale.

This is a growth-oriented role for someone eager to build strong analytical foundations, develop modern reporting capabilities, and learn how data informs real-world business decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Work will be performed on-site at our corporate campus. 


What You’ll Do

  • Support the development and maintenance of recurring and ad-hoc reports that combine financial, operational, and performance data
  • Review, reconcile, and validate datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Assist in building and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and scorecards used by leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Analyze historical and current data to identify trends, variances, and performance drivers
  • Support forecasting models, projections, and scenario analyses used for planning and decision-making
  • Translate analytical findings into clear summaries and visual presentations for stakeholders
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives and reporting needs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping improve data structure, documentation, and analytical workflows
  • Assist with internal audits, data validation, and quality assurance activities
  • Participate in special projects such as sales forecasting, wage and labor market analysis, and store-level optimization

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Quantitative Economics, or a related analytical discipline
  • 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar quantitative role (internships and relevant project work considered)
  • Working knowledge of SQL preferred; exposure to analytical or statistical techniques is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis and modeling
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for communication and presentation
  • Strong attention to detail with solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities
  • Demonstrates curiosity, humility, and a desire to learn and grow
  • Passionate about using data and technology to drive better outcomes
