Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Educational Leadership, Communications, or related field with at least one (1) year of directly related experience required. Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: adult education and literacy (AEL), workforce development, distance or online learning, instructional technology, or digital literacy training. Experience supporting educators, instructors, or training initiatives serving adult learner populations preferred. A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Provide skilled technical support for campus information system users, develop or modify training, test existing programs, and monitors programs that implement those designs for SHSU Online. Focuses on building instructional capacity among educators and providers serving adult learner populations across Texas.

Primary Responsibilities
Provides professional development, facilitation, instructional support, and distance learning training for the Distance Education Professional Development Center (DEPDC), a statewide initiative supported through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Supports Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) providers, instructors, administrators, and staff through the delivery of training related to distance learning, digital literacy integration, instructional technologies, learner engagement, accessibility, and adult learning best practices in virtual, hybrid, and in-person environments. Delivers professional development, workshops, webinars, academies, and instructional support sessions for Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) providers across Texas. Facilitates training related to distance learning, digital literacy integration, instructional technologies, accessibility, learner engagement, and adult learning best practices. Supports instructors and providers in the effective use of approved distance learning curriculum platforms and instructional technologies. Collaborates with DEPDC coordinators, instructional teams, and statewide partners to plan and deliver regional and statewide training initiatives. Assists with statewide conferences, symposiums, webinars, and training events, including facilitation and participant support activities. Develops, adapts, organizes, and maintains training materials, instructional resources, facilitation guides, and support documentation aligned with TWC guidelines and adult learning principles. Tracks participation, attendance, and training outcomes in support of grant reporting and continuous improvement efforts. Identifies emerging training needs, instructional gaps, and opportunities to strengthen provider capacity in distance learning environments. Maintains awareness of trends and best practices in adult education, digital literacy, workforce development, and instructional technology. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
This position requires strong facilitation, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. The ability to present information clearly and effectively. The position requires sensitivity to the needs of adult learners from diverse linguistic, cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Experience working in virtual and technology-enabled environments is preferred. The position may involve travel throughout Texas in support of regional trainings, conferences, provider meetings, and statewide initiatives. The DEPDC initiative supports flexible and technology-enabled work environments. This position may be eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements based on operational needs, grant requirements, and university policies. Periodic travel, in-person meetings, and event support activities may be required. This position is funded through an external grant award. Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding availability and program needs. Current funding for the DEPDC initiative is anticipated for up to five years, subject to continuation of grant support.
