What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

Come join our team supporting the hazardous waste facility needs for a high-profile client at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport!  Woodard & Curran is seeking a Hazardous Waste Facility Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and performing activities related to collecting, sorting, storing, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste that is generated throughout a large industrial facility at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. 

In this role, you must be familiar with policies and procedures associated with the safe handling, packaging, storage, and shipment of hazardous waste, as well as non-hazardous waste and universal waste, including, but not limited to safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE), RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) regulations, and DOT rules and regulations. You will be responsible for managing three Hazardous Waste Technicians in daily tasks, including the collection, packaging, labeling, storage, and shipment of all waste generated at the facility. This is a working manager role. The Hazardous Waste Facility Manager is required to fill-in for Technicians when short-staffed and must be proficient in the duties of the Hazardous Waste Technician.

The Hazardous Waste Facility Manager reports to the Project Manager and Assistant Plant Manager and must also work with Client Environmental staff, and personnel from all shops generating wastes of all types for disposal. Generated wastes include, oils, cutting fluids, acids, bases, grinding debris, paint filters, blasting media, metal plating solutions, and other materials associated with aircraft maintenance.

Woodard & Curran takes the safety of our employees seriously and in addition to completing Health and Safety trainings, you will also be expected to comply with all company Health and Safety procedures and policies.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6.00am - 2.00pm. This role may cover for other team members as-needed for vacations, planned leaves of absence, or sick time.

Essential duties are, but not limited to:

  • Supervise assigned staff while planning, organizing, and directing work activities.
  • Responsible for performing and/or directing employees to make sure all inspections are completed and any deficiencies from the inspections are corrected.
  • Prepare hazardous waste manifests.
  • Pack expired lab chemicals.
  • Direct and/or perform repairs and improvements of assigned facilities.
  • Facilitate maintenance repairs by submitting work orders and coordinating with maintenance department.
  • Coordinate work activities with representatives of local, state, and federal agencies, citizens, and equipment and service suppliers.
  • Ensure accuracy of the work system database.
 
 

What will you need to succeed?

  • High School Degree or Equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and operations.
  • A minimum of two years working within the management of hazardous waste field.
  • Valid GA driver’s license with good driving record.
  • The ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates who reach the offer stage will need to pass a pre-employment background and driving record check, drug screen, and physical in order to establish a start date.
Pay range will depend upon level of experience.
