Job description

Crescent is a differentiated U.S. energy company committed to delivering value through a disciplined, returns-driven growth through acquisition strategy and consistent return of capital. Our long-life, balanced portfolio combines significant cash flow from stable production with a deep, high-quality development inventory. Crescent is a top three producer in the Eagle Ford basin and a scaled operator in each of the Permian and Uinta basins. Crescentโ€™s leadership is an experienced team of investment, financial and industry professionals that combines proven investment and operating expertise. For more than a decade, Crescent and our predecessors have executed on a consistent strategy focused on cash flow, risk management and returns. Through disciplined and accretive investments, we have successfully tripled the size of our company since going public in December 2021 while maintaining a strong balance sheet.

The Production Engineer is responsible for maximizing production, improving reliability, minimizing downtime, and increasing the economic value of Crescent Energy's producing assets. This role provides technical ownership of producing wells and works closely with field operations and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, diagnose performance issues, prioritize investments, and execute solutions. Successful candidates will combine strong engineering fundamentals with operational judgment, economic decision-making, and data-driven problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

Production Optimization & Surveillance Own production performance and surveillance for an assigned portfolio of wells, identifying downtime, degradation, and optimization opportunities. Develop and improve scalable surveillance, dashboards, and exception-based workflows that focus attention on the highest-value opportunities. Diagnose production losses and recommend technically sound, economically justified actions to restore or increase production. Partner with reservoir engineering to evaluate well performance, support forecasting, and identify proactive intervention opportunities.

Well Operations & Artificial Lift Plan and execute well interventions, including scopes of work, AFEs, cost estimates, and well programs for workovers, repairs, artificial lift changes, and production-enhancement activities. Design, troubleshoot, and optimize artificial lift systems, including rod lift, gas lift, ESPs, plunger lift, or other applicable methods. Evaluate equipment and well failures, identify root causes, and implement changes that improve reliability and run life. Work closely with field operations throughout planning, execution, and post-job evaluation.

Economics, Cost & Continuous Improvement Prioritize opportunities based on production impact, cost, risk, reliability, and expected economic return. Track and understand LOE and capital expenditures, identify material variances, and recommend corrective actions. Use production, failure, cost, and operational data to identify recurring trends and improvement opportunities. Develop and share best practices, standards, and lessons learned across the organization.

Collaboration, HSE & Communication Collaborate with reservoir, geology, completions, drilling, facilities, automation, and operations teams to maximize asset value. Support new-well startup, flowback, and early-time production optimization. Incorporate safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational risk into engineering decisions. Clearly communicate recommendations, assumptions, risks, and expected value to technical teams and leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline. 5+ years of relevant upstream oil and gas engineering experience. Strong understanding of production optimization, artificial lift, well interventions, and producing-well diagnostics. Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical alternatives using economics, risk, and production impact. Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Unconventional or high-well-count production experience preferred, but not required.

Work Environment

This position combines office-based engineering and data analysis with regular interaction with field operations. Field travel is expected based on operating activity and project needs.
