Job Status: Full-time. Available immediately
Responsibilities include:
- Major responsibilities include developing and implementing medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and maintaining competency and skills required for professional practice.
- Responds to consults and nutrition screens and appropriately arranges follow-ups within the established timeframes based on departmental policy.
- Proactively identifies patients with nutritional needs. Documents nutritional interventions in the plan of care using the Nutrition Care Process in the EMR
- Serves as preceptor to Dietetic Interns and medical residents as appropriate.
- Uses exceptional time management, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, communication skills, public speaking, computer skills and excellent service strategies. Additionally, Dietitians are expected to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates diplomacy and ability to interact with others, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keeps abreast of new trends and developments in nutrition and applies knowledge in current practice.
- Proficiency with multiple software applications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Epic, Cbord, or HealthTouch
Reports to: the Assistant Director of Clinical Nutrition and Patient Services.
Working conditions:
Fluorescent lighting, hard tile floors, water on the floor at times, variable humidity, air-conditioned, exposure to chemicals. Working in patient care environment, which involves exposure and interaction with patients, families, visitors, and other health care professionals. This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens. Level I Positions in this category require the performance of tasks which involve exposure to blood and potentially infectious body fluids.
- Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics from an institution with an accredited program is required. Master's degree preferred. Specialty certifications a plus
- CDR Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetics Registration - RDN.
- Licensure with the Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council - Florida Department Of Health - LDN.
- One (1) year of experience in clinical settings is preferred. Will consider new graduates with demonstrable knowledge of clinical nutrition, and instructional techniques.
