Position Overview:
As our Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of design, analysis, and prototyping activities for new nuclear systems through testing, documentation review, and oversight.

On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office
Your Day to Day as a Quality Assurance Engineer:
  • Monitor design and analysis activities of new nuclear systems for compliance with customer, regulatory, and BWXT requirements.
  • Provide oversight and support of development, testing, and prototype activities.
  • Conduct reviews of engineering documents, drawings, plans, and software to ensure that applicable quality requirements are met.
  • Identify quality requirements for procurements.
  • Assist with supplier evaluations and qualification through audits, assessments, and surveillances.
  • Review supplier quality documentation.
  • Assist with and review disposition of nonconformances.
  • Participate in quality program development including preparation of quality plans and procedures.
  • Participate in periodic internal audits, surveillances, and assessments.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and completeness of corrective actions and lead root cause analysis.
  • Support additional assignments as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field is required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience is required, including at least five (5) years of experience in quality engineering in the nuclear, defense, or aerospace industry.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have a demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as NQA-1, ISO 9001, AS9100D, ASME, NCA-4000, or NASA requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of government regulations applied to quality assurance including 10 CFR50 App. B, 10 CFR 830.120, DOE O 414.1 and 10 CFR 71 is desired.
  • Experience as NQA-1 or ISO 9001/AS9100 auditor is desired.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools, systems, and techniques is desired.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) of item, services and software is desired.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $134,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000.00 and $134,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
