Job Summary
Our client is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Pediatric Registered Nurse to join their clinical research team. In this specialized role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric patients participating in groundbreaking clinical trials. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, physicians, and specialists to monitor protocols, manage complex acute conditions, and ensure the highest standards of safety and care for young patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct, high-quality pediatric nursing care to acute patients admitted to the clinical research unit. Perform continuous physical and developmental assessments, vital signs monitoring, and advanced nursing interventions tailored to pediatric populations.
  • Administer experimental therapies, investigational medications, chemotherapy, and blood products according to strict research protocols, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify subtle changes in clinical condition, recognize pediatric emergencies, and initiate immediate diagnostic or resuscitative measures as needed.
  • Accurately record clinical observations, protocol parameters, adverse events, and medication administration in compliance with NIH research standards and regulations.
  • Serve as a primary advocate and educator for pediatric patients and their families, providing emotional support, clear communication regarding treatment plans, and discharge guidance.
  • Actively participate in clinical rounds, protocol team meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives alongside principal investigators, nurse practitioners, and allied health staff.

Qualifications
  • Active unrestricted RN License
  • BLS certification
  • 2 to 3 years of current, direct pediatric acute care hospital experience (e.g., pediatric inpatient, PICU, or pediatric step-down unit).
  • BSN preferred
  • Prior experience in clinical research, clinical trials, or protocol management.
  • Strong familiarity with electronic documentation systems and federal health privacy regulations (HIPAA/CUI).
