Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) Opportunity

Ready to bring your nursing expertise to a compassionate, patient-centered clinical team? Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPM) is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN). We need a professional nurse who is passionate about reproductive healthcare, patient education, and delivering high-quality, non-judgmental care to our communities. If you are looking for a highly rewarding clinical role where your work directly supports our patients' freedom to make informed decisions about their bodies, this is the place for you.

This position is .8 FTE, with 2 days in Baltimore (Monday and Tuesday) and 2 days in Annapolis (Wednesday and Thursday).

Inside the Role

Reporting directly to the Charge Nurse and the Director of Abortion Services, you will serve as a vital on-the-floor clinical leader who ensures that patient flow, clinical standards, and care delivery are executed seamlessly. You are not just a provider of care, but a proactive coordinator who displays immense initiative and follow-through with minimal guidance. On any given day, you will act as the cohesive link of our clinical team, collaborating closely with clinicians, medical assistants, and support staff to maintain a highly professional, supportive, and efficient healthcare environment. Whether you are preparing the recovery suite for a surgical day, administering medications, or mentoring medical learners and interns on-site, your presence ensures that our clinics run with absolute safety, compliance, and deep clinical warmth.

Your Day-to-Day Impact

  • Deliver Empathetic Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care across the health center, conducting patient medical histories, clinical counseling, vitals, and lab work.
  • Support Procedures & Recovery: Assist with patient notification and clinical follow-up. You will also prepare the recovery room for surgical days with the appropriate medications, patient records, and emergency equipment.
  • Administer & Document Accurately: Administer medications per clinician or standing orders and maintain accurate documentation by entering patient information into our Electronic Practice Management (EPM) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Champion the Patient Experience: Adhere to PPM's high customer service standards, helping patients participate in satisfaction surveys, and providing service recovery when concerns arise.
  • Collaborate and Model Team Values: Partner closely with medical providers, co-workers, volunteers, interns, and medical learners to support a cohesive, respectful team environment.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Active, unrestricted Maryland state (or Maryland endorsed) Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire) and active BLS/ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain within 180 days).
  • A strong, genuine alignment with the mission of Planned Parenthood of Maryland.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and comfortably assist patients from exam tables to wheelchairs.
  • Preferred: Prior nursing experience in reproductive health, abortion care, gynecology, or labor and delivery.
  • Preferred: Experience with obstetric sonography (or a strong willingness to learn!).
  • Language: Fluency in English is required. Bilingual Spanish fluency is highly preferred.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, and Short/Long-Term Disability insurance.
  • Work-Life Harmony: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Holidays, and an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Future Security: 401(k) Retirement Plan and Flexible Spending Account.

$40 - $45 an hour
