Job Description

AECOM's Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture.  Our teams have worked on signature projects such as the London 2012 Olympic Park and Legacy Framework, to the new plan for the LA2028 Olympics, to industrial facilities for GE and Rolls-Royce, to headquarters and workplaces for NASA, Unilever, Sony Music, DirecTV, Box, Inc., and many Fortune 500 companies.

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in our Boston, MA office.  This position will perform site visits to observe and report on construction activities and address field questions as well as coordinate design and construction issues.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the following items: 

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
  • Identifies discrepancies in results
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete the primary design elements for engineering works
  • Must be able to perform site visits to observe and report on construction activities and address field questions as well as coordinate design and construction issues
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or related discipline plus two (2) year of relevant experience in structural design of buildings and transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education  
  • Must have either ETABS or SAP, Revit, and Microsoft Excel experience to qualify for this position
  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Expereience with ETABS or SAP, RAM Structural, AutoCAD, SAFE, TEDDS, SAP2000, MathCAD, SpecsIntact, spColumn, spBeam, spWall, Enercalc 
  • Masters in Structural Engineering
