Overview Electromagnetics Laboratory Internship LOCATION: Cape Canaveral, FL JOB STATUS: Internship CLEARANCE: BI investigation CERTIFICATION: N/A TRAVEL: Limited; as needed Must be US citizen We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to support NASA's Electromagnetics Laboratory (EML) operations and process improvement efforts within an electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing environment. This position provides hands-on exposure to engineering test workflows, laboratory practices, and technical documentation development. The intern will support ongoing efforts to standardize lab processes by observing technician workflows, documenting recurring test setups, and developing structured checklists and procedural documentation. This role emphasizes the use of Python and LaTeX to organize, automate, and generate professional engineering documents. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the intern will assist engineers and technicians in improving consistency, efficiency, and data quality across lab operations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS : * Currently enrolled or recent graduate in an undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
* Basic experience with Python (e.g., scripting, data handling, or automation tasks)
* Interest in or familiarity with LaTeX for technical documentation
* Strong attention to detail and ability to organize technical information clearly
* Ability to follow structured processes and work in a laboratory or technical environment
* Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt in a hands-on setting
* Strong written communication and documentation skills
* Interest in RF systems, testing environments, or laboratory operations is a plus RESPONSIBILITIES: * Shadow laboratory technicians during test setup and execution to observe and document workflows
* Capture equipment usage, setup sequence, verification steps, and common issues for recurring test configurations
* Develop standardized setup checklists and procedural documentation for lab use and training
* Organize checklist content into structured formats suitable for automation (e.g., CSV, JSON, or similar)
* Assist in developing Python scripts to process checklist data and generate formatted outputs
* Support the creation and maintenance of LaTeX templates for professional checklist and SOP documentation
* Assist with basic data organization, file management, and documentation updates related to lab activities
* Participate in validation and refinement of checklists through technician feedback and review
