The job of the Multimedia Specialist is done for the purpose of providing ongoing multimedia production to help the Communications Department deliver accurate, transparent, and inclusive communication; assisting the public relations department; and ensuring timely, professional multimedia and video content management.
Essential Functions:

  • Captures, edits, and catalogs photo and video assets for the purpose of enhancing district communication materials.
  • Operates a variety of video, photography, and audio equipment (e.g., cameras, lighting, tripods) to produce content for digital, web, and broadcast use.
  • Maintains electronic video and photography libraries to ensure accurate inventory and access to departmental materials.
  • Maintains photography and video production equipment to ensure proper functionality and availability.
  • Manages student interns to support media production and provide professional guidance.
  • Manages district website content, providing training and technical assistance to staff as needed.
  • Curates photography collections for promotional and historical use.
  • Writes press releases for high-profile events in accordance with established procedures and AP style.
  • Collaborates with district personnel for the purpose of developing public communication, including television, web page formats, and social media.
  • Assists in organizing and facilitating events, such as board meetings, to ensure smooth technical operation and communication support.
  • Attends school site and departmental meetings to provide and/or gather information relevant to job functions.
  • Prepares programming-related materials (e.g., graphical overlays, voiceovers) to enhance district-produced programming.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, and/or students to provide information and/or direction as required.
  • Performs other communications-related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the Communications Department.

Requirments:

  • Age 16+
  • Experience: Job-related experience is desired.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; post-secondary education in media production, communications, or related fields is preferred.
  • Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.
