We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineer with a strong background in multifamily and C&I custom and energy management DSM program engineering to join our dynamic team. As a Lead Engineer you will be responsible for providing customers the support and tools necessary to identify, quantify, and deliver cost-effective energy-efficiency projects.

Job Description
  • Lead and support the implementation of multifamily and C&I custom and energy management (RCx, MBCx, etc.) energy efficiency projects.
  • Conduct energy audits and assessments at multifamily and commercial and industrial facilities to identify, measure, and verify energy efficiency improvements across systems such as HVAC, lighting, compressed air, refrigeration, process heating, and motors.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to utility clients, program administrators, contractors, and end customers to maximize program benefits and energy savings.
  • Identify barriers to energy efficiency adoption and propose innovative solutions to overcome them.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with clients through professional, high-quality interactions and service delivery.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring deliverables meet technical excellence and client requirements.
  • Develop energy efficiency project scopes and perform technical analysis, including energy modeling and economic simulations, to quantify savings and impacts using spreadsheets and energy modeling software.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports summarizing findings, project economics (e.g., energy savings, cost savings, payback periods), and potential incentive opportunities.
  • Conduct measurement and verification (M&V) activities, including on-site visits to gather data, perform functional performance tests, and verify project installations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, or similar
  • A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principals including: HVAC and refrigeration, thermal and fluid systems, motors, lighting and/or other commercial and industrial systems
  • 5+ years of experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively distill and convey complex ideas into concise conversation/emails
  • Comfortable managing projects and workflows with variable levels of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Must be able to travel locally up to approximately 25% of the time
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
Qualifications
  • P.E. and CEM certification
  • Previous relevant experience with multifamily and C&I
  • Previous relevant experience with success at managing multiple projects/programs, budgets, deliverables, and client relations.
  • Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, building automation/controls
  • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. DOE-2, eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, ECAM)
  • Familiar with energy savings opportunities for building energy using systems (lighting, HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, process heating and cooling, etc.).
  • Commissioning and/or retro-commissioning test procedures, schematic diagrams, and system specifications
  • Familiarity with relevant energy efficiency codes and standards (e.g., IECC, Code of Federal Regulations, ASHRAE 90.1, etc).
  • A Masters degree preferably in Mechanical, Energy or related engineering field of study.
