The Senior Merchant leads category strategy and financial management for complex product lines, driving customer-focused decisions across multiple channels. This role leads negotiations, pricing, promotional initiatives, and assortment strategy while managing a high-performing team to achieve business objectives. That means balancing art and science: using customer/market insights and financial rigor alongside strong product instincts and a deep understanding of fashion and consumer trends. We are looking for a leader who is energized by building the future, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is passionate about creating assortments customers love. Our team partners closely across Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Store Design, Marketing, Site Merchandising and more to bring trend-right, customer-centric assortments to life while fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation. What you'll do:
  • Develop and execute category strategies to drive long-term business growth and profitability.
  • Lead the evolution of the category by identifying white space opportunities and challenging the status quo.
  • Build compelling assortments that reflect emerging fashion and consumer trends while meeting the needs of the Walmart customer.
  • Anticipate trends in fashion, accessories, and culture, translating them into commercially successful products and assortments.
  • Champion elevated product quality, design, and storytelling while delivering Walmart's value proposition.
  • Own profit and loss responsibilities, including pricing, promotions, assortment, and inventory decisions.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, establish strategic partnerships, and oversee supplier performance and communication.
  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Store Design, Site Merchandising, and Marketing to bring innovative products to market with speed and impact.
  • Guide and develop team members through coaching, performance management, and career growth opportunities while fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze customer behavior, market trends, competitive insights, and business performance to inform merchandising and channel strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align merchandising, supply chain, and financial plans in support of business objectives.
  • Utilize data analytics to influence decisions, validate strategies, and optimize category performance across channels while applying strong merchandising judgment.
What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in category management, including strategy development and execution for complex categories.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience owning profit and loss responsibilities, forecasting, and delivering profitable growth.
  • Demonstrated ability in supplier management and negotiation to drive value, innovation, and long-term partnerships.
  • A passion and curiosity for fashion, accessories, and consumer/market trends, with a demonstrated ability to identify what's next and translate trends into commercially successful assortments. Experience in fashion, accessories, jewelry, footwear, handbags, beauty, or other trend-driven consumer categories strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional merchandising instincts, product taste, and the ability to curate assortments that resonate with the Walmart customer, balanced with financial discipline that drives business results. 
  • Experience leading through transformation, influencing change, and building new capabilities within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Effective team management capabilities, including coaching, mentoring, talent development, and performance evaluation.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to analyze customer behavior and market trends while exercising strong merchandising judgment.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating cross-functionally to align merchandising, channel, and supply chain strategies.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
