Job Description:

What's the role

Shell is looking for a Sr. Analyst, Retail Energy (also known internally as Sr. Analyst, Load and Gross Margin Analytics) to join its team in Houston, TX.

Shell seeks a motivated professional with a strong interest in the retail energy sector to become part of the Load and Gross Profit Analytics team, which plays a key role in the origination and realization of gross profit.

This role reports positions for each cost component and explains changes in gross profit from origination to realization through customer additions and attrition, load and contract changes, and position and price movements. It ensures that trading counterparties fulfill their contractual obligations and provides feedback on the effectiveness of hedges and risk premiums. The role also ensures that costs are passed correctly to customers, and that pricing and billing processes are aligned with how each product is structured.

Accountabilities:

  • Monitor the accuracy of load forecasts and report position for each cost component

  • Report gross profit from origination to realization and explain all changes

  • Ensure that the invoices we get from our trading counterparties areaccurate, and we get what we pay for

  • Ensure that our cost ispassed-throughcorrectly to customers based on their market and product configuration

  • Provide feedback for the accuracy of the forward curves managed by Portfolio Management team

  • Provide feedback for the effectiveness of the hedges executed by and risk premiums set byPortfolio Management team

  • Monitor the accuracy of pricing and billing processes

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Comply withcompany policies and procedures

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 3 years of experience, preferably in Retail Energy Settlements, Gross Profit, Risk, and/or Pricing, with experience in ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and/or CAISO

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Excel is required

  • Experience with Python is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solvingskills;must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis

  • Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats

  • Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs

  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability tomaintaina strict level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment anddemonstratea vested interestin team goals andobjectives.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability toestablishand maintain positive and effective working relationships

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $155,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
