Department Information This position is only open to Colorado state residents. This is a non-employee internship position. No benefits are available.

This position is not covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins). The Colorado Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CCLPPP) is a program that develops surveillance capacity to aid in preventing, and ultimately, eliminating childhood lead poisoning as a major public health problem in Colorado.

The program encompasses a wide range of public health activities, including case surveillance through laboratory test reporting, data management and system improvement, partnership and stakeholder engagement, enhanced analysis to identify at-risk geographies and populations, targeted outreach and prevention strategies for those at highest risk for lead poisoning, and environmental in-home investigations. CCLPPP data and services support local public health agencies, providers, families and caregivers, and other department programs such as those providing health risk assessment and evaluating regulatory program requirements to manage health effects. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Internship - Student Data Analyst SALARY: This internship is unpaid TENTATIVE START DATE: Fall 2026 Internship Desired start date is 9/21/2026 to 12/4/2026 Student will work 8-10hrs a week RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Creating a fully functional Tableau dashboard for internal use, including interactive charts, filters, and summary metrics.

Documenting and outlining data sources, workflow processes, dashboard functionality, and instructions for future maintenance or enhancements. A final presentation or demonstration of the dashboard and key findings. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a student to support the development of an internal data dashboard as part of a capstone-style analytics project.

The student will work with organizational data using R for data cleaning, analysis, and preparation, and use Tableau to design and build interactive dashboards for internal stakeholders. CLASS CODE & CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION: H4T1IX STUDENT TRAINEE I MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NOTE: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this internship through education only. Education: Students must be currently enrolled Bachelors or Masters student enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking a degree program in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, public health or other related disciplines (include transcripts). OR A recently graduated bachelors or masters student with a completed degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, public health or other related disciplines.

Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with a bachelors or masters degree in the listed degree within three calendar years June 2023 - Present) (include transcripts). TRANSCRIPTS: You must be using education to qualify, a legible copy of your official or unofficial college transcript(s) or a foreign credential evaluation report must be submitted with your application. Transcripts must show the name of the school and that a degree was conferred.

Transcripts from colleges or universities outside of the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES educational credential evaluation service. Failure to provide a transcript or foreign credential evaluation report may result in your application being rejected and you will not be able to continue in the selection process for this position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum requirements, the successful candidate in this position will have the following highly desirable experience and competencies: Experience in analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data. Experience in data visualization. Demonstrated intermediate experience with R.

Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software. Good communication and organizational skills. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Signed Non-Employee Confidentiality Agreement is required. If you will be using this internship for academic credit, a Signed Affiliation Agreement is required between CDPHE and your University.
