Your responsibilities can include creating documents for medical device or pharmaceutical companies or performing writing of reports and articles for researchers. Interns typically work under the supervision of experienced medical writers, assisting with tasks such as writing, editing, and reviewing clinical study reports, regulatory documents, scientific articles, and patient education materials. This role helps interns develop a deep understanding of medical terminology, guidelines, and the drug development process, while also improving their writing and communication skills. Medical writing internships are often sought by students or recent graduates in life sciences or related fields who are interested in a career that combines science and communication.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on during a medical writing internship?

As a medical writing intern, you will typically assist with drafting, editing, and reviewing various documents such as clinical study reports, regulatory submissions, patient information leaflets, and scientific manuscripts. You'll often collaborate closely with senior medical writers, researchers, and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity. Interns may also help with literature searches, data presentation, and preparing materials for conferences or publications.
